What is a bonspiel?
Bonspiels are scheduled tournaments lasting three or four days, consisting of as many teams as can be accommodated. Some are for club members only. The larger ones are open to participation by players and teams from other clubs. Bonspiels are designated as Mens, Womens, Mixed (two men and two women), or Open (any combination). They are great fun and an opportunity to meet lots of other curlers.
A long-standing tradition, this classic mixed bonspiel is always held on the weekend before Thanksgiving.
This is a great bonspiel to witness young talent within the curling world. Participants are under 21 years old.
Held soon after New Year's Day, this open bonspiel is a great way to shake off the Christmas rust.
Philadelphia Curling Club members also participate in other club related bonspiels. The MACA is a series of one day events among various clubs promoted the sport and spirit of curling. The Mid-Atlantic is a great 4-day women's event hosted by a different club each year! The Philadelphia Curling Club also hosts a series of in-house events for club members only.
