Learn to Curl
Thanks for your interest. There are a variety of ways to get you curling!
The higher profile of curling in the recent Winter Olympics has stimulated lots of local interest in our sport, as did the USCA Curling Nationals held in the Philadelphia area for the first time in February 2012 and again in 2014. Our recent fall season curling classes have been filled to capacity, and our club membership is now close to its maximum with the influx of new curlers, but we still have room for a few more. Our normal season runs from October through March, and our next classes will start in October 2017. If you are interested in visiting the club or observing our league play during the season, please contact us and we will try to accommodate your requests. We are excited that there is so much interest in our sport. If you would like to try curling before our next public event, please consider contacting:
- Bucks County Curling Club, a great and growing new four-sheet arena facility with dedicated ice in Warminster, PA
- Jersey Pinelands Curling Club, a new arena facility in Mt. Laurel, NJ
- Diamond State Curling Club, a new arena facility in Newark, DE
Come on out and try a Winter Olympic Sport! Our Curling Class is run by experienced members of the club and is a great introduction to the sport. No prior experience is required, but participants must be at least 18 years of age. Classes include on-ice instruction in the basics and some game play. After completing the class, you will be ready (and hopefully eager) to start participating in club activities. All you need to bring is a second pair of clean sneakers, loose clothing (e.g. track pants), a jacket or sweater, and possibly some gloves (it can get a little chilly on the ice – the room temperature is typically around 40°F).
We will be holding our Fall Curling Class on four consecutive Sundays starting on 15 October 2017.
Classes will be held on 15, 22, & 25 October and 5 November at 11 am.
A 9 am class may be added if needed to accommodate those interested.
Registration is now open and will close on 1 October 2017.
To register, or learn more about the classes, download the detailed 2017 Class Registration Form. Fill it in completely, print it, and mail to the address on the form along with your check. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, so act soon if you are interested. Once your payment is received, you will be assigned a place in the class if there is still availability. You will receive a confirmation email or phone call to notify you that you have a place in the class and the session time assigned.
This page will be updated when the classes are filled, after which no further registrations can be accepted.

The Curling Club is available for group outings or facility rentals on WEEKDAY afternoons. Each event lasts 2.5 hours and includes use of the ice, the “warm room” (a social area), and curling instruction from club members. Cost is $1,700 for a group of not more than 16 people. These events are scheduled on weekday afternoons when the ice is available and to avoid conflict with regular league and competitive events. Outings can be scheduled during Philadelphia Curling Club's regular season extending from October through March. To set up a group outing or private event, or for more information, please send email to email@example.com.
For alternative days and times, dedicated curling ice is also available at Bucks County Curling Club in Warminster, PA. Additional options at BCCC may include evenings, weekends, and summer ice availability. For more information visit the BCCC website: www.buckscountycurlingclub.org
Philadelphia Curling Club strongly supports teaching the great sport of curling to young people and encourages their interest. Children of members are automatically eligible for our programs, and young people whose parents are not members may also participate for a nominal fee. We have several programs available for young curlers:
- Little Rockers (ages 5-12): This group typically meets on Saturday mornings to learn the basics and start playing together.
- Junior Curling (ages 12-18): Basic instruction for new curlers as well as training and competition for young curlers with advancing skills. With support from our dedicated and capable instructors and coaches, some of our junior curlers have participated successfully at national and world competitive events.
